New Delhi, March 1: In a significant breakthrough, the Rajasthan Police has successfully apprehended a notorious bandit who had been evading capture for 15 years. Under the directive of SP Lokesh Sonwal, the Surauht police arrested Hansraj, also known as Hansa Gurjar, in Secunderabad, Telangana. He was wanted with a bounty of ₹20,000 on his head and had posed a considerable challenge for law enforcement.
The arrested individual, 34-year-old Hansraj, hails from Chandolpura, Bharatpur, and was an active member of the notorious Prem Singh gang. His criminal activities date back to 2011 when he executed a robbery at gunpoint in the Surauht area. Following his release on bail, he went underground and orchestrated numerous robberies and dacoities in Bharatpur’s Gadhi-Bajana, Bair, and Rudawal regions.
To evade arrest, Hansraj fled Rajasthan and took refuge in Telangana, where he lived under a false identity in Secunderabad.
SP Sonwal revealed that a special team was formed under the leadership of Station House Officer Sohan Singh to track down the fugitive. The team traveled thousands of kilometers to Secunderabad, where they successfully cornered and captured him.
Hansraj is implicated in over half a dozen cases across various police stations in Bharatpur, Karauli, and Dholpur, including robbery, violations of the Arms Act, dacoity, conspiracy to commit dacoity, and serious assault under the SC/ST Act.
This operation was conducted under the supervision of Inspector General of Police Kailash Chandra Vishnoi and SP Karauli Lokesh Sonwal, with additional oversight from Additional Superintendent of Police Satyendra Pal. The police are now interrogating the accused regarding other crimes and members of his gang.
