Ola Electric Rises Nearly 3% After Launching India’s First Residential Battery Storage System ‘Ola Shakti’

Mumbai, October 17 (Daily Kiran): Shares of Ola Electric Mobility gained nearly 3% in Friday’s trade after the company announced the launch of ‘Ola Shakti’, its first residential Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The stock was trading at Rs. 56.85, up 2.99%, against its previous close of Rs. 55.20 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 56.65 and touched an intraday high of Rs. 57.96 and a low of Rs. 55.22, with over 15.2 lakh shares changing hands. The company’s market capitalization currently stands at Rs. 25,185.84 crore. Promoters hold 36.78%, while institutional and non-institutional investors own 7.34% and 55.88%, respectively.

Ola Shakti marks the company’s foray into the energy storage sector, expanding beyond its core electric mobility business. Designed as a portable, on-demand power solution for Indian households, farms, and businesses, Ola Shakti is built on Ola’s 4680 Bharat Cell technology platform, fully engineered and manufactured at the Ola Gigafactory in India.

The company expects its annual BESS consumption to scale up to 5 GWh in the next couple of years. Ola Shakti features automotive-grade safety, 98% efficiency, zero maintenance, and instant 0 ms changeover time — offering a superior alternative to traditional inverters and diesel generators. The IP67-rated batteries are weatherproof, tested for dust, water, and monsoon conditions.

The system’s modular design supports easy scalability and home installation, while its compact structure includes accessible air filters for convenient servicing.

Ola Shakti is available in four variants at introductory prices:

  • 1kW/1.5kWh – Rs. 29,999

  • 1kW/3kWh – Rs. 55,999

  • 3kW/5.2kWh – Rs. 1,19,999

  • 6kW/9.1kWh – Rs. 1,59,999

The launch signifies the first step in Ola Electric’s long-term vision to expand from residential to grid-scale energy storage applications, anchoring its growth on locally developed technology and sustainable innovation.
