Odishas Voter List Mapping Nearly Complete, Says CEO Gopalan

Bhubaneswar, March 6: Odisha’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R.S. Gopalan announced on Friday the launch of an awareness initiative regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. He urged voters in the state, particularly those in urban areas, to verify their details against the 2002 voter list.

During a press conference, Gopalan stated that the state CEO office is currently engaged in extensive mapping and verification of voters from the 2002 list with the 2025 list across Odisha.

He further explained that, following the directives of the Election Commission, the 2002 voter list will serve as a baseline for mapping to the 2025 voter list.

Voters were encouraged to check their names on both the 2025 and 2002 lists and to submit necessary details to the Booth Level Officer (BLO).

The CEO also advised that if a voter does not find their name on the 2002 list, they can provide their parent’s details for mapping. If their name or their parents’ names are also absent, they may use their grandparents’ details for the process.

Gopalan clarified that no documents or Aadhaar cards are required for this mapping process. Once the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) begins, names will be registered according to the established procedures.

He noted that approximately 90 percent of the voter list mapping has already been completed, with efforts ongoing to cover the remaining voters.

The CEO stated, “Out of the remaining 10 percent, at least 8 percent of voters will be mapped soon. Our goal is to achieve 100 percent correction and verification in the voter roll.”

He explained that BLOs have been assigned the task of contacting voters and verifying their details in the voter roll.

During the mapping process, details such as the voter’s name, relative’s name, age/date of birth, polling station, part number, and EPIC details will be matched.

In this process, BLOs will assist at the field level, and voters can verify their details through the ECI-NET portal, Voter Service Portal, CEO Odisha website, and the ECI-NET mobile app.
