Odisha govt. curtails summer vacation in schools

Bhubaneswar, April 16 : Odisha government has decided to curtail the summer vacation this year to ten days instead of earlier 50 days to compensate the learning losses during the covid pandemic. A notification issued by the School and Mass Education Department here on Saturday said the summer vacation this year will be allowed for a brief period from June 6 to June 16 . The morning classes will continue till further order and the classes will be held from 6AM to 9 AM from May 1 till June 6 in view of the scorching heat. Learning Recovery Plan (LRP) as envisaged by Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA ) will be implemented with the existing teachers during morning classes to compensate learning losses due to Covid 19 during the last two years Cooked MDM will be supplied to eligible beneficiaries during the period The government also decided that class promotion for the students from Class-I to VIII will be made by April 20 next and new admission/ readmission for Class-I to IX will be done during April 20 to 30. As per the New Assessment Policy introduced by BSE, Odisha, Class-IX students have to appear for the Summative Assessment-II Examination. However, the conduct of SA-II and declaration of results for students of Class-IX and promotion to Class-X must be completed by May 10, 2022. BD DP BM
