Army pays tributes to 3 soldiers killed in accident

Srinagar, April 16 : The Army on Saturday paid tribute to three soldiers who were killed after the vehicle they were traveling in overturned enroute to an encounter site in south Kashmir’s Shopian district. Three soldiers– Subedar Om, Havildar Ramautar and Sepahi Pawan Singh Gurjar– made the supreme sacrifice on April 14, near Kanipora village of Shopian district while on way to an encounter site. In a solemn ceremony at Badami Bagn Cantonment, Lt Gen DP Pandey, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the gallant soldiers on behalf of the proud Nation, Srinagar defence spokesman said. Late Subedar Om, was 41 years old and had joined the Army in 1998. He was a resident of Mahrana, Bhiwani in Haryana. He is survived by his Wife. Late Havildar Ramautar, was 39 years old and had joined the Army in 2002. He belonged to village Lalpur, Alwar in Rajasthan and is survived by his wife. Sepahi Pawan Singh Gurjar, was 23 years old and had joined the Army in 2018. A resident of Kanchanpura, Dausa in Rajasthan he is survived by his mother. The mortal remains of the three will be taken for last rites to their native place, where they would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved families and remains committed to their dignity and well being, the spokesman added. MJR GK
