Notorious Gangster Arrested After Four Years on the Run

Noida, May 18: In a significant operation against crime, the Ecotech-3 police in Greater Noida have successfully apprehended Irfan, also known as “Leader,” a wanted criminal under the Gangster Act. He had been evading law enforcement for four years and was carrying a reward of ₹10,000 for his capture. The accused has multiple serious charges filed against him at the Ecotech-3 police station.

Police officials consider this arrest a crucial step in controlling crime in the area. On May 17, 2026, local intelligence informed the Ecotech-3 police that the wanted gangster was near a bus stand close to a dumping yard on Dadri Road. Acting on this tip-off, the police swiftly surrounded the area and arrested the suspect.

Irfan, originally from Ashalkpur Farukh Nagar in Ghaziabad, had been living in the Kali Mela area of Malkangiri district, Odisha. He is approximately 38 years old. Authorities revealed that he had been frequently changing his location to evade capture.

According to the Ecotech-3 police, Irfan has several criminal cases against him. He was charged under the Gangster Act in 2022 and has also faced action under the NDPS Act. Police records indicate that he has been implicated in cases under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act and section 174-A of the Indian Penal Code.

Police officials believe that Irfan’s arrest will impact the network of active criminals in the region. They are currently gathering information about other criminals connected to him and his network. The Gautam Buddha Nagar Police Commissionerate continues to run operations targeting wanted and reward-listed criminals, and this arrest is part of that ongoing initiative.
