Ranchi, March 6: Babulal Marandi, the leader of the opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly, praised Nitish Kumar’s nomination to the Rajya Sabha, stating that he deserves all the accolades for his contributions to society and the state. Marandi emphasized that Kumar’s recent move demonstrates that power is not his only objective.
Marandi, a BJP leader, recalled his acquaintance with Kumar from their time as ministers in the central government. He noted that he has witnessed Kumar’s journey from that period to becoming the Chief Minister of Bihar.
Reflecting on Bihar before the year 2000, Marandi described a state plagued by terrorism, insurgency, and a breakdown of law and order. Development seemed a distant dream, and many questioned whether Bihar would ever improve. However, he asserted that Kumar has shattered these myths by establishing the rule of law in Bihar, leading to visible progress. Marandi highlighted that electricity has been significantly improved in the state under Kumar’s leadership.
He praised Kumar’s achievements, stating that people now recognize the construction of good roads in Bihar. Marandi believes that Kumar has provided the state with a new direction. Addressing opposition allegations, he remarked that the opposition will always voice their opinions. He added, “What Nitish can achieve, and what the BJP can accomplish, the opposition cannot. Hence, they feel as if a dagger has been plunged into their hearts.”
Regarding the resignation of the West Bengal Governor and Mamata Banerjee’s accusations, Marandi explained that such processes are normal. The central government appoints governors, and Banerjee tends to politicize matters for her convenience.
On Banerjee’s opposition to the SIR (Special Identification Registration), Marandi expressed understanding of her concerns. He noted that a significant number of Rohingya Muslims have entered Bengal from Bangladesh, registering on voter lists and obtaining ration and Aadhaar cards. As their names are being removed from the lists, it has understandably caused her distress.
