New Delhi, December 4 – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a major operation on Thursday against an organized network involved in illegal arms and ammunition smuggling. During the operation, NIA teams carried out extensive search operations across three states and arrested four suspects.
Twenty-two teams of the agency simultaneously conducted raids in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The searches were carried out at seven locations in Bihar’s Nalanda, Shekhpura and Patna districts, 13 places in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district, and two locations in Haryana’s Kurukshetra district.
During the searches, teams recovered several illegal weapons of different calibres and large quantities of ammunition. Additionally, more than Rs 1 crore in cash, various electronic and digital devices, suspicious and fake identity documents, and other objectionable materials were seized. The digital devices contained incriminating data.
Following the operation, NIA arrested four individuals connected to this syndicate. Shashi Prakash from Patna, Ravi Ranjan Singh from Shekhpura, and Vijay Kalra and Kush Kalra from Kurukshetra were taken into custody. Preliminary investigation revealed that these individuals were part of an organized network smuggling ammunition from Haryana to Uttar Pradesh and then to Bihar and other parts of the country.
This case began in July 2025 when Bihar Police recovered large quantities of weapons and ammunition and arrested four suspects – Rajendra Prasad, Kumar Abhijit, Shatrughan Sharma and Vishal Kumar. Subsequently, on the directions of the Union Home Ministry, the case was transferred to NIA in August, which is now investigating other suspects connected to this network, funding channels and supply routes.
