NIA Court Issues Non-Bailable Warrant Against Pakistani Handler in Jammu

Jammu, August 18: The NIA court in Jammu has issued a non-bailable warrant against the Pakistani terrorist handler, Mohammad Yaqub, also known as Abu Sumama, Sumama Ilyas, or Waris Ali. The court determined that the accused is absconding, and the investigating agency has been unable to present him in a conventional manner.

According to the court’s order, the accused has been designated as a terrorist under Section 35 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Deputy SP Amit Sharma, representing the NIA, stated that this case began when the Jammu and Kashmir police conducted a naka checking at Gujjar Tent Pandach. During the investigation, a motorcycle with registration number JK01AH/8264, heading towards Zakura, Srinagar, was stopped. A search revealed a Chinese grenade and 15 cartridges in the possession of the rider. He identified himself as Mohammad Naqeeb Bhatt, a resident of Fazal Haq Colony, Batpora, Srinagar, but could not provide a valid reason for possessing the weapons and ammunition.

Following this, an FIR was registered at the Jakora police station under Section 23 of the UAPA, Section 7/25 of the Arms Act of 1959, and Section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act of 1908.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the conspiracy was orchestrated by the handler Mohammad Yaqub, who is based in Pakistan. According to the NIA, arrested Pakistani terrorists Abdullah Rajput, also known as Kamran Ahmed, and Khubaib, also known as Usman Jatt, mentioned his name during interrogation.

The NIA stated that Abu Sumama had instructed these two terrorists to carry out attacks targeting security forces and civilians in the Kashmir Valley. Abu Huraira, also known as Abdullah Rajput, and Khubaib, also known as Usman Jatt, were sent to the Valley for attacks under his orders.

While hearing the application, the court noted that the accused’s involvement in the case has been established, and he is implicated in terrorism. As the accused is absconding and the investigating agency has been unable to present him, a non-bailable warrant has been issued against him under Section 75 of the BNSSS.

The court has forwarded the non-bailable warrant to the DIG, NIA Jammu, for action as per the law. The NIA has stated that following the issuance of the warrant, the accused will be arrested, and further legal proceedings will follow.
