AAP Unveils First List of 40 Candidates for Punjab Assembly Elections 2027

AAP announces its first list of candidates for the Punjab Assembly elections, featuring Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

New Delhi, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has officially kicked off its campaign for the Punjab Assembly elections in 2027 by releasing its first list of candidates. This announcement came during a meeting of the Party Affairs Committee chaired by national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday. Among those listed is Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who will contest again from Dhuri.

In a statement, Mann expressed his congratulations to the selected candidates and urged party workers to strengthen their grassroots connections with the public. “Let us continue our journey towards a ‘Rangla Punjab,'” he said, referring to his own candidacy in Dhuri.

Mann emphasized that the swift announcement of candidates reflects the party’s robust preparations, transparency, and unwavering confidence in the accomplishments of their government.

AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj also highlighted the release of the candidate list, noting that additional names for other constituencies will follow soon. He defended party member Sanjeev Arora, who is currently imprisoned in a money laundering case, stating that the central government is targeting him due to his dedication to the party. Bhardwaj expressed optimism that Arora would soon secure bail and resume his campaign.

He contrasted AAP’s candidate availability with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) situation, suggesting that the BJP lacks candidates and is waiting for defections from Congress to fill its ranks.

Former Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal congratulated all 40 candidates and urged them to surpass AAP’s previous performance in the 2022 elections. “These candidates were selected based on a survey conducted among the public,” he noted, encouraging them to break the records set in the last elections.
