New Delhi, April 14: Newcastle United is ramping up its pursuit of FC Porto winger William Gomes, as reported by Diario AS journalist Eduardo Burgos. The club aims to bolster its squad at St James Park this summer, regardless of the future of manager Eddie Howe. Gomes, a 20-year-old Brazilian talent, has attracted interest from multiple clubs in both the Premier League and La Liga. FC Porto is reportedly seeking at least €50 million for his transfer.
Newcastle is not alone in its interest, but Gomes’ future will likely be determined after the World Cup in July. This season, the young winger has showcased impressive form, netting 13 goals and providing two assists in 40 appearances. While he could enhance Newcastle’s attacking options, the potential absence of European football next season might lead him to consider other offers. Currently, the Magpies sit 14th in the Premier League table after 32 matches and need to perform well in their remaining six games to secure a spot in European competitions for the following season.
