New Delhi, March 13: New Zealand’s assistant cricket coaches, Luke Ronchi and Jacob Oram, will participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026, even with their national team’s series against South Africa and Bangladesh scheduled for March.
Luke Ronchi serves as the batting coach for the New Zealand team, while Jacob Oram is the bowling coach. Both are linked with Islamabad United in the PSL, where Ronchi is the head coach and Oram acts as the assistant coach.
Mike Sandal, New Zealand’s performance manager, stated, “Luke and Oram have a fantastic opportunity to enhance their coaching experience and improve their skills outside the New Zealand cricket environment. Just like our players, our coaches are in demand worldwide. We believe that their time in the PSL will not only benefit them personally but also enable them to support New Zealand cricket more effectively in the future.”
In their absence, Wellington’s coach Johnny Bassett-Graham and New Zealand cricket network coach Graham Aldridge will assist head coach Rob Walter during the South Africa series. Canterbury’s Brendan Donkers will take charge for the Bangladesh tour.
Sandal added, “It will be great to have Johnny, Graham, and Brendan involved with the Black Caps. I am confident they will spend valuable time in the environment and gain experience working with our players and support staff. We hope that the insights gained here will benefit them in domestic cricket coaching.”
New Zealand is set to play a five-match T20 series against South Africa from March 15 to 25. Following that, they will tour Bangladesh for three ODIs and an equal number of T20 matches. The PSL 2026 is set to commence on March 26.
