New York Post Endorses Sarita Komatireddy in Race Against Letitia James
Sarita Komatireddy receives endorsement from New York Post as she challenges Attorney General Letitia James in upcoming elections.

New York, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : Sarita Komatireddy, an Indian-American Republican, has garnered the support of the New York Post’s editorial board in her bid against New York Attorney General Letitia James. Early voting in the state begins this Saturday.
In an editorial published on Friday, the newspaper expressed enthusiastic backing for Komatireddy, highlighting her experience as a prosecutor. The editorial praised her track record of combating terrorism, drug cartels, cybercrime, and other criminal activities during various administrative roles.
The Post noted that Komatireddy aims to utilize the full powers of the Attorney General’s office to tackle crime, fraud, and corruption, while also prioritizing public safety. The editorial referred to Letitia James as a “political hack,” and the newspaper extended support to other Republican candidates, including Bruce Blakeman for governor and Mike Lawler for the 17th Congressional District.
At 41, Komatireddy shared with the New York Post that her own family has been affected by crime in the city. She recounted an incident where a family member was attacked in the subway while taking children to school, and a family friend was shot while sleeping in her bedroom.
Komatireddy asserted that New Yorkers feel less safe now than before, particularly since James took office. She claimed, “People feel less secure. Since Letitia James became Attorney General, they believe their safety has diminished, and the reasons are clear.” She accused James of neglecting her responsibilities, referencing a statement from James that the Attorney General’s role primarily focuses on civil matters rather than criminal cases.
According to The Post, while serving as a federal prosecutor in the Eastern District of New York, Komatireddy handled cases involving international terrorism, cybercrime, drug trafficking, money laundering, and government corruption.
Komatireddy shared her endorsement on the social media platform X and released a new campaign ad focusing on homelessness. Her campaign cites an internal poll conducted by OnMessage Inc., first reported by the New York Post on October 18, which indicates that James leads with 50.7% support compared to Komatireddy’s 44.7%.
The poll, conducted between October 12 and 14, surveyed 1,000 likely voters. Among those who watched the candidates’ debate on October 8, Komatireddy received 81% support, while James garnered just 19%.
However, a Siena College poll conducted last month showed James with a 13-point lead. James’s campaign dismissed the internal poll results. A spokesperson for James told the New York Post, “Sarita Komatireddy will not protect New Yorkers from fraudsters or the federal government, as those are the very people supporting her campaign.”
The spokesperson further stated, “Donald Trump has endorsed her, and in return, she will turn a blind eye when Trump creates chaos in New York.”
Democrat Letitia James was first elected as New York Attorney General in 2018 and was re-elected in 2022. She gained national recognition for filing a civil fraud case against former President Donald Trump and his company.
Early voting in New York runs from October 24 to November 1, with the general election scheduled for November 3.
