New Reality Show ‘The 50’ Premieres with Unique Format and Surprises

Mumbai marks the launch of an exciting new reality show, ‘The 50’, premiering on Sunday, 1 February. The show promises a thrilling blend of strategy, friendship, and unexpected twists, setting it apart in the competitive world of reality television.

Unlike conventional reality shows, ‘The 50’ does not follow fixed rules or a predetermined elimination system. Instead, viewers will witness sudden and unpredictable developments as 50 celebrity contestants compete using their wit, gameplay, and survival skills.

The show’s format is inspired by the French international hit ‘Les Cinquante’, which gained significant popularity, especially during its fourth season among young audiences. Following its success in France, the format was adapted for Poland and Germany on Amazon Prime Video, ranking high in these markets. In the United States, the show aired on the Hispanic channel Telemundo. Now, it has been tailored to suit Indian viewers’ preferences and expectations.

The uniqueness of ‘The 50’ lies in its structure. The 50 celebrity contestants are divided into ten teams of five members each, with one captain leading every team. Teams compete in regular tasks, where victorious teams gain power and advantages, while losing teams enter an ‘unsafe zone’. A key twist is that the winning teams decide which member from the unsafe teams is eliminated, ensuring constant pressure, planning, and strategy throughout the game.

Each episode introduces fresh twists and turns. Shocking surprises and changes in team dynamics keep contestants on their toes, forcing them to rethink and revise their decisions continually.

The show is filmed at a grand palace-style set on Mumbai’s Mud Island, featuring a special element called ‘The Lion’, which monitors contestants and influences the flow of the game.

‘The 50’ features a star-studded lineup of contestants, including well-known names like Karan Patel, Divya Agarwal, Monalisa, Vikrant Singh, Shiny Doshi, Dushyant Kukreja, Urvashi Dholakia, Sapna Choudhary, Prince Narula, Yuvika Chaudhary, Archana Gautam, Rajat Dalal, among others. Each will rely on their experience and fan base to secure their place in the competition.

Hosted by Farah Khan, the show will air on Ravi Colors TV at 10:30 PM and will be available on the OTT platform Jio Hotstar at 9:00 PM.
