Patna, April 9: Political activities in Bihar have intensified following Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s election to the Rajya Sabha and his resignation from the Legislative Council. Discussions are heating up regarding the name of the new Chief Minister.
Sanjay Jha, a close aide to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the national executive president of the party, confirmed on Thursday that the entire process for forming a new government in Bihar will commence after April 13. Nitish Kumar departed for Delhi on Thursday, accompanied by MP Sanjay Jha.
Jha stated that Chief Minister Kumar is traveling to Delhi, where he will take the oath as a Rajya Sabha member on Friday, April 10, around 12:15 PM. Following this, he will return to Patna, and the process for the new government formation will begin after April 13. Speculations had already suggested that the new government would be formed after the end of Kharmas, which is on April 14.
There is ongoing discussion about Nitish Kumar resigning from his position as Chief Minister after being elected to the Rajya Sabha. It is anticipated that the BJP may nominate the Chief Minister, while the JD(U) could secure the Deputy Chief Minister position. If this occurs, it would mark the first time a BJP member assumes the Chief Minister’s role in Bihar. Several names are being floated within the BJP regarding the potential Chief Minister candidate.
Meanwhile, a new controversy erupted on Thursday when a poster demanding the appointment of Samrat Chaudhary as Chief Minister was displayed outside the BJP state office in Patna. The poster, appealing under the name “Balmi ki Samaj Sangh,” called for “Samrat’s government in Bihar.” However, security personnel quickly removed the poster, clarifying that it was not an official party initiative and had no connection to the BJP.
