Jerusalem, May 18: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump engaged in a phone conversation regarding Iran. According to a report from Israel’s Kan TV, the two leaders discussed the possibility of resuming military action against Iran.
A senior Israeli official, as reported by the Xinhua news agency, indicated that if war against Iran were to restart, the U.S. and Israel could launch a joint attack. Following this discussion, Prime Minister Netanyahu convened a cabinet meeting to address all fronts where Israel is currently engaged in conflict.
This development comes at a time when Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran. He stated on his social media platform, “Time is running out for Iran. They must make a decision soon, or they will have nothing left.”
It is noteworthy that on February 28, the U.S. and Israel conducted attacks on Iran, leading to approximately 40 days of conflict. A ceasefire agreement was reached on April 8 between Iran, the U.S., and Israel.
After the ceasefire, peace talks took place on April 11 and 12 in Islamabad between representatives from Iran and the U.S. However, these discussions did not yield any concrete agreements. In recent weeks, both sides have exchanged several proposals to end the conflict, facilitated by Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Trump reiterated his warning that if Tehran does not reach a peace agreement with the U.S., it will face “very bad conditions.” In an interview with French media, Trump remarked, “If Iran does not make a deal, difficult times are ahead for them. They need to secure an agreement soon.”
Trump also shared an AI-generated image on social media, depicting him standing with a U.S. Navy admiral against a backdrop of stormy seas, captioned, “The calm before the storm.”
Israeli media reported that the conversation between Trump and Netanyahu regarding Iran took place on Sunday, coinciding with Netanyahu’s security meeting with his cabinet.
