New Delhi, August 9: All eight Members of Parliament from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 10 in New Delhi. The Prime Minister’s Office has been approached for scheduling this meeting.
Supriya Sule, the executive president of the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) and a sitting MP, confirmed this potential meeting. While the agenda has not yet been disclosed, it is expected that discussions will primarily focus on development initiatives in Maharashtra and related state issues.
During the meeting, the MPs are likely to present matters concerning development projects in their respective constituencies, central initiatives, and topics of state interest to the Prime Minister.
Given the political developments in Maharashtra over the past five years, including party-switching and shifting alliances, this meeting has sparked various discussions in political circles.
In the upcoming parliamentary session, the government may require support from some opposition parties on key issues such as the delimitation bill and women’s reservation. Consequently, the growing dialogue between the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) and the central government has become a topic of interest.
Previously, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde met with Prime Minister Modi on Friday, accompanied by several other party MPs.
During a suspension of parliamentary proceedings, Shinde criticized the opposition, stating that the central government is ready to discuss all issues in Parliament. However, he noted that the opposition seems more interested in political protests outside the House rather than engaging in debate. He urged the opposition to collaborate on significant bills like women’s reservation and delimitation, emphasizing the need for all political parties to work together on public interest matters.
