New Delhi, April 9: Navjot Kaur Sidhu announced in Chandigarh that she will be the face of her party in the upcoming Punjab elections. She emphasized that her party, established in 2015, is not new and that she is now taking on the leadership role.
In a conversation with reporters, Sidhu shared her personal experience as a cancer survivor, stating, “I understand the pain of those suffering from cancer. They cry out in pain.” She advocated for the use of opium in treatment and called for farmers to be granted the freedom to cultivate crops with full security and guarantees, provided they do not sell to unauthorized individuals.
Sidhu clarified that her husband, Navjot Singh Sidhu, is not affiliated with any party and has been out of politics since 2022. “If he were part of a party, he would have been invited to a national platform by now,” she remarked.
She reiterated that she would represent her party as the chief ministerial candidate in Punjab. Additionally, she attempted to inform Priyanka Gandhi about the corruption issues within Congress, stating that while Congress could win in Punjab, its frontline leaders face corruption allegations. “The leader put forward will face scrutiny from the ED. I wanted to highlight the ground realities,” she explained.
Sidhu also criticized Sukhbir Singh Badal, asserting that enough time has been given to address the disrespect of Guru Granth Sahib, which will not be tolerated.
Attacking Bhagwant Mann, she claimed he is running the government with a select few and that the legislators are not at fault, as they are not being allowed to function. “The government is being run from Delhi, and all the legislators are troubled,” she concluded.
