Mohammad Siraj: The Tireless Fast Bowler and Indias Strongest Shield on Foreign Pitches

New Delhi, March 12: Mohammad Siraj, a prominent Indian fast bowler, is renowned for his relentless energy and patience. In today’s cricket, he stands out as a bowler capable of delivering long spells with aggression. Siraj is celebrated for his unwavering stamina.

Born on March 13, 1994, in Secunderabad, Siraj faced significant challenges on his journey to becoming a cricketer, as his father was an auto driver. However, his determination and hard work have made him one of the top bowlers in the current cricketing landscape.

Siraj began his cricket career at the age of 16 and started playing club cricket at 19. His talent led him to debut for Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy at just 19 years old. During the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy season, he emerged as the leading wicket-taker for Hyderabad, claiming 41 wickets at an impressive average of 18.92. In the 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he was the top wicket-taker with 23 wickets in seven matches.

After consistently excelling in domestic cricket, Siraj made his international debut in T20s in 2017, followed by ODIs in 2019 and Tests in 2020. Since then, he has never looked back.

Siraj is a true team player. His unique ability to remain tireless and available whenever the team needs him sets him apart. Bowling long spells at around 140 km/h is challenging for any fast bowler, but Siraj never backs down. Whether in India or on foreign soil, he is often seen bowling tirelessly in Test matches. During long tours to Australia and England, he was the sole bowler to participate in every Test. His recent tours to Australia and England exemplify this commitment. With speed, swing, and bounce, Siraj has proven to be a formidable force. He has single-handedly led India to victories in matches across all formats, both at home and abroad.

On January 21, 2023, Siraj achieved the pinnacle of success by becoming the number one bowler in the ICC ODI rankings. To date, he has taken 139 wickets in 45 Test matches, 76 in 50 ODIs, and 17 in 17 T20s. Additionally, he has claimed 109 wickets in 108 IPL matches.

In 2023, Siraj was part of the Indian team that won the Asia Cup. He also played a crucial role in the team that reached the finals of the ODI World Cup 2023. Siraj has been a member of the Indian teams that won the T20 World Cup in 2024 and 2026. Looking ahead, there are high expectations for Siraj to deliver match-winning performances for India in major ICC tournaments, particularly in the World Test Championship.
