Tokyo, March 22: Hiroki Fuji, President of Mitsubishi Chemical Engineering Corporation, stated on Sunday that India has always held immense potential for development, highlighting the ‘Make in India’ initiative as a remarkable endeavor by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that the initiative is well-designed and serves as an effective policy.
In an interview with a news agency, Fuji remarked, “I believe that the ‘Make in India’ initiative promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an outstanding endeavor. It is well-structured and represents an effective policy.”
He further noted that for any country to achieve domestic growth, it is essential to boost local consumption. While increasing exports is crucial, developing the domestic market is equally important.
Fuji reiterated that India has consistently demonstrated vast potential for growth. The economic progress witnessed over the past decade is commendable. During this period, countries like China have experienced a decline in growth rates, while India continues to grow at a rate of 6-7 percent.
The Japanese company leader attributed the current growth and dynamism of the Indian economy largely to Prime Minister Modi’s policies. He expressed confidence that India’s economy will continue to thrive in the future.
Previously, the NXT Foundation’s India Progress Report 2025-26 indicated that India has surpassed Japan to become the world’s fourth-largest economy, boasting a nominal GDP of $4.8 trillion. With a growth rate of 8.2 percent, India remains the fastest-growing economy globally and is on track to become the third-largest GDP soon.
