Asansol, August 5: Minister Agnimitra Paul of the West Bengal government has launched a sharp attack on TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha. He stated that Sinha has never stepped forward to assist the community over the years. Now that the state has a “double-engine” government, Sinha is suggesting collaboration.
During a media interaction, Paul questioned Sinha’s absence during his two terms as MP. “Where was he all this time? Now that our government is in power, he wants to work together? Why didn’t he feel the need to join us when we repeatedly requested administrative meetings last year?”
Paul emphasized that the current Chief Minister invites everyone to discussions, unlike the previous administration, which never reached out to them. He pointed out that Sinha has never even called them once. “Suddenly, everyone feels we should work together and focus on development,” he remarked.
He expressed admiration for Sinha’s acting career but criticized his political contributions. “We are fans of your acting, not your political work. Coming from the industry you do, you should be more inclusive. Creative individuals bring everyone together, but Sinha has not done that.”
Paul further accused Sinha of being ineffective, stating, “You have not contributed to the party or the public. We barely see you. You disappear for long periods and then reappear. We hear you stayed at a grand hotel when you visited.”
He concluded by stating that Sinha and others take party tickets to contest elections but fail to serve the public. “When someone needed treatment at AIIMS, we faced significant challenges. He did not come forward to help then. Now he is asking for collaboration because our government is in power.”
