Mbappé Faces Possible Season-Ending Injury After Draw Against Real Betis

Madrid, April 28: Real Madrid’s star forward Kylian Mbappé may miss the final five matches of the La Liga 2025-26 season. The club confirmed that he sustained a muscle injury during the 1-1 draw against Real Betis on Friday night.

Mbappé had to leave the field ten minutes before the match concluded, with Real Madrid leading 1-0. However, Hector Bellerin equalized, delivering a significant blow to Madrid’s title hopes this season.

According to Real Madrid’s website, “Tests conducted today on Kylian Mbappé revealed an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left leg.”

The club has not provided a timeline for Mbappé’s return, stating only that they are monitoring the recovery of the French player, who has scored 24 goals in La Liga this season.

The upcoming World Cup this summer, starting on June 11, is also a crucial factor. Mbappé is expected to play a vital role for France in the tournament.

La Liga confirmed on Monday that the injury was identified after Mbappé felt discomfort in his hamstring during the match against Real Betis. He requested to be substituted in the 35th minute of the second half, and Gonzalo Garcia replaced him in the 81st minute. Following medical tests conducted on Monday, the injury was confirmed, but the club has not set a specific recovery timeline.

Mbappé played his 100th match for Real Madrid against Betis. In his second season with the club, he has achieved 66 wins and scored a total of 85 goals across all competitions.

Since his debut on August 14, 2024, he has played 62 matches in La Liga, 25 in the Champions League, 5 in the Copa del Rey, 4 in the Club World Cup, 3 in the Spanish Super Cup, and 1 in the UEFA Super Cup.
