Mayawati Demands Apology from Akhilesh Yadav Over Controversial Remarks by SP Spokesperson

Lucknow, May 15: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati criticized the Samajwadi Party (SP) spokesperson Rajkumar Bhati for his controversial remarks about the Brahmin community. She also questioned SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s silence on the matter and demanded an apology to the Brahmin community.

Mayawati took to social media platform X, stating, “The recent inappropriate and offensive comments made by a prominent national spokesperson of the Samajwadi Party regarding the Brahmin community have sparked widespread outrage and condemnation. Despite a police case being filed, the issue shows no signs of resolution. The SP’s silence on this narrow-minded casteist politics is making the situation more serious and tense.”

She further emphasized, “Given the disrespect and harm caused to the dignity and self-respect of the Brahmin community by the SP spokesperson’s irresponsible statement, it would be appropriate for the SP chief to take immediate notice and apologize to the Brahmin community.”

The former Chief Minister noted that this incident has revealed that the SP’s attitude towards the Brahmin community remains unchanged, particularly in contrast to its approach towards Dalits, backward classes, and Muslims. There is significant discontent within the Brahmin community regarding the current government’s stance, which is widely recognized. The BSP, on the other hand, has always respected and included the Brahmin community in its party and government, ensuring their rightful participation at all levels.

It is worth mentioning that SP leader Rajkumar Bhati allegedly made offensive comments about the Brahmin community, leading to sharp reactions across social media and political circles. Various organizations and individuals have called for action against him. In response, Bhati clarified that he did not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments and publicly apologized, expressing regret if his remarks offended anyone.
