Lucknow, March 13: Shia cleric Maulana Yasub Abbas has commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating a dialogue with the President of Iran.
He stated that many Indians reside in Iran. In this context, it is crucial for the Indian government to ensure the safe return of its citizens. The central government has made significant strides in this direction, which we wholeheartedly welcome. Currently, a large number of the Indian community is stranded there.
Maulana Yasub Abbas emphasized that Iran has always been a steadfast friend of India. Iran has supported India in every challenging situation. Therefore, it is essential for India to stand by Iran during this crisis. Iran is in dire need of India’s robust assistance. In contrast, India’s relations with Israel and the United States have never been as deep-rooted as those with Iran.
He pointed out that, upon closer examination, neither the U.S. nor Iran has proven to be reliable friends for India. These nations approach India when it suits their interests, but they withdraw when circumstances turn unfavorable for them. Hence, it is imperative for India to support Iran to ensure the uninterrupted flow of imports and exports. Any disruption in this regard must be avoided.
Maulana Abbas noted that the Indian government is working with full commitment to evacuate its citizens stranded in Iran. So far, many individuals have been safely brought back by the central government, which we appreciate.
