Massive Fire Breaks Out at South Korean Auto Parts Factory, 50 Injured

Deajeon, March 20: A significant fire erupted at an auto parts manufacturing facility in Deajeon, South Korea, injuring at least 50 individuals, with 35 reported in critical condition, according to local authorities on Friday.

The blaze started around 1:17 PM local time. Due to the severity of the situation, the National Fire Agency has mobilized assistance from across the country. Such orders are issued when local authorities struggle to manage the fire independently.

Prime Minister Kim Min-sok has instructed the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Fire Agency to deploy all necessary resources and personnel for rescue operations immediately. He emphasized the need for swift action to evacuate individuals and extinguish the flames.

The Prime Minister also directed the Deajeon metropolitan government and police to implement measures such as traffic control and safe relocation of residents to prevent further damage.

Earlier, on March 14, a fire broke out in a seven-story building in the Jong-gu area of Seoul, injuring 10 people. The fire reportedly began around 6:10 PM in a guesthouse located on the third floor. Two individuals sustained serious injuries, while eight others suffered minor injuries, including some foreign nationals. The fire department had issued a Level-1 emergency response and conducted relief operations.

Additionally, on February 10, a fire ignited following an explosion at an oil tank in the southeastern region of Gyeongsan, approximately 250 kilometers southeast of Seoul. The fire was triggered by an explosion in the upper section of the oil storage tank. Although the flames subsided somewhat, smoke was still visible at the scene. No casualties were reported by the end of the initial relief efforts.
