Maruti Suzuki Teases LED Tail Lamps

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch its newest SUV, a direct competitor to the Hyundai Creta, in India. While official details remain limited, the brand has confirmed that the new SUV will make its debut on September 3rd. Ahead of the launch, Maruti Suzuki has released a teaser showcasing the vehicle’s stylish full LED tail lamp.

Teaser Highlights

The teaser reveals a distinctive 3D-look tail lamp design, featuring a sleek brake lamp at the centre, flanked by turn indicators on both sides. The shape of the tail lamp bears a resemblance to that of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, though the upcoming SUV’s lights appear more premium and stylish.

Why Is This SUV Important for Maruti Suzuki?

This upcoming model marks Maruti Suzuki’s push to strengthen its presence in the highly competitive mass-market SUV segment. The new SUV is expected to be based on the existing Grand Vitara platform and will likely be positioned between the Grand Vitara and the Brezza in Maruti’s lineup. Reports indicate that it will be retailed through Maruti’s Arena dealerships, aiming for a broader appeal and targeting higher sales volumes—specifically to challenge the Hyundai Creta’s dominance.

Engine and Powertrain Options

Maruti Suzuki is expected to offer familiar powertrain options with this SUV, including a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing around 101 bhp and 139 Nm of peak torque. In addition, a petrol-CNG bi-fuel option and a petrol-hybrid powertrain (similar to the Grand Vitara) are likely to be available. With this multiple-powertrain approach, the SUV will cater to consumers with varied fuel preferences.

Other Key Details

Maruti Suzuki recently announced that it has commenced production of lithium-ion batteries at its India plant. These locally made batteries are likely to be used in the hybrid versions of the new SUV as well as the Grand Vitara, potentially giving Maruti a pricing advantage over its rivals.
