New Delhi, May 18: India’s leading automobile manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India, announced on Monday that it has commenced commercial production at its second manufacturing unit located in Kharkhoda, Haryana.
According to the company, the new plant has an annual production capacity of 250,000 units, increasing the total production capacity of the Kharkhoda facility to 500,000 units per year.
With this expansion, Maruti Suzuki’s total annual production capacity across its manufacturing plants in Gurugram, Manesar, and Kharkhoda in Haryana, as well as in Hansalpur, Gujarat, has risen to 2.65 million units.
Once fully operational, the Kharkhoda plant is set to become one of Suzuki’s largest four-wheeler manufacturing centers globally, with a total production capacity of 1 million vehicles per year.
The company had previously planned to add 500,000 units to its production capacity during the fiscal year 2026-27, and the launch of the second plant in Kharkhoda aligns with this strategy.
Currently, the Kharkhoda facility manufactures the compact SUV Brezza and the mid-size SUV Victorious.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Kharkhoda plant in August 2022.
In response to rising domestic demand and an increasing focus on exports, Maruti Suzuki is continuously expanding its production capacity.
Earlier in May, the company announced a significant achievement by delivering over 3 million vehicles through the Indian railway network.
It further noted that deliveries via rail accounted for only 5% of total vehicle deliveries in the fiscal year 2014-15, which increased to 26.5% by the fiscal year 2025-26.
On Monday, Maruti Suzuki India’s shares saw a decline, with prices dropping by 1.97% to ₹12,960 by 2:30 PM on the NSE.
