Mumbai, April 19: The upcoming week is poised to be crucial for the Indian stock market. Key factors such as the U.S.-Iran peace talks, quarterly results, crude oil prices, and economic data will shape market trends.
Investors will closely monitor the peace negotiations between the U.S. and Iran, as a two-week ceasefire is set to expire on Wednesday.
Additionally, the Strait of Hormuz has reopened temporarily but has since closed again, which may lead to significant fluctuations in crude oil prices in the near future.
India is currently in the midst of earnings season. Next week, companies like Grow, PNB Housing, HCL Tech, Nestlé India, Tata Investment, LTTs, SBI Life, Adani Energy Solutions, Infosys, Adani Green Energy, and MRP will announce their results for the fourth quarter of FY26.
On the domestic front, infrastructure output data will be released on April 20, followed by the RBI’s monetary policy minutes on April 22, and PMI data on April 23.
The past week has been quite favorable for the Indian stock market. During this period, the Sensex rose by 943.29 points or 1.22%, closing at 78,493.54, while the Nifty gained 302.95 points or 1.26%, ending at 24,353.55.
Broader markets also performed well. The Nifty Midcap 100 Index increased by 2,054.25 points or 3.55%, closing at 59,898.20, and the Nifty Smallcap 100 Index rose by 725.60 points or 4.31%, finishing at 17,565.70.
Among the indices, Nifty India Defense emerged as the top gainer with a 4.20% increase. It was followed by Nifty Energy (4.59%), Nifty Consumer Durables (4.29%), Nifty Metal (4.24%), Nifty PSU (4.08%), Nifty Media (3.77%), Nifty Realty (3.64%), Nifty Commodities (3.37%), and Nifty FMCG (3.04%), all closing in the green.
