Manipur CM Khemchand Reiterates Commitment to Peace in Meeting with President Murmu

New Delhi, March 25: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh emphasized that unity, harmony, and peace remain guiding principles for his government as he continues efforts to stabilize the state.

On Wednesday, the Chief Minister met with President Droupadi Murmu to discuss the current situation in Manipur, including the collaborative efforts being undertaken by his administration.

In a post on the social media platform X, he expressed his honor in meeting the President and provided updates on the changing circumstances in Manipur and ongoing collaborative initiatives. He reiterated that unity, harmony, and peace are the core guiding principles.

This marks Khemchand’s second visit to the national capital since taking office just 50 days ago. Previously, on February 22, he held several high-level meetings in New Delhi with both Deputy Chief Ministers, L. S. Dikhow and Nemcha Kipgen.

The delegation met with Prime Minister Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Discussions focused on key issues, including the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons affected by ethnic violence in the state.

An official from the Chief Minister’s office previously reported that the Home Minister reviewed the new government’s initiatives aimed at reducing community divisions and restoring peace and harmony. During this visit, Khemchand Singh and his deputies also met with BJP President Nitin Naveen and the party’s National General Secretary (Organization) B.L. Santosh to discuss organizational matters.

The new government, led by Khemchand Singh, was formed following the lifting of President’s Rule on February 4, initiating renewed efforts to restore normalcy in the state.
