The Odisha police have apprehended a notorious criminal involved in the trafficking of brown sugar. During the operation, authorities seized illegal drugs and weapons from the suspect, marking a substantial blow to local drug trafficking networks.
The arrested individual has been identified as Armaan Khan, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the illegal brown sugar trade. A team from the Dhanupali police station successfully captured him after a prolonged surveillance operation. Police had been monitoring Khan’s activities for some time, but he had consistently evaded capture.
Acting on a tip-off, police set up a sting operation near Deer Park, where Khan was allegedly planning to sell brown sugar. A search of his person revealed 61.30 milligrams of brown sugar and a homemade firearm.
Police officials reported that Khan is a resident of the Kumharpada area in Sambalpur and has an extensive criminal record. He faces a total of 33 cases across various police stations, highlighting the severity of his criminal activities.
Authorities have hailed this operation as a significant achievement in their ongoing campaign against drug trafficking. Officials stated that such actions will continue to ensure strict control over drug-related activities in the district and protect the youth from its harmful effects.
