
New Delhi, March 9: In a significant operation against illegal liquor, the Delhi Police arrested two bootleggers in the eastern district. A total of 199 bottles of illegal alcohol were seized from the suspects.
This operation was conducted by the Patparganj Industrial Area police. Authorities stated that a special campaign is underway to curb illegal activities in the eastern district. As part of this initiative, a team from the Pandav Nagar Industrial Area, including ASI Qasim, Head Constable Sachin Kumar, and Constable Dinesh, was patrolling and monitoring the area.
On the morning of March 7, 2026, around 5 AM, the police team arrived near ISBT Anand Vihar. There, they found two individuals standing suspiciously with seven backpack bags and four trolley bags. Upon suspicion, the police stopped them for questioning, but the suspects could not provide satisfactory answers regarding the contents of their bags.
Upon searching the bags, the police discovered 199 bottles of illegal liquor. The two suspects were arrested on the spot and identified as Suraj and Sunil. Suraj hails from East Champaran (Motihari), Bihar, while Sunil is a resident of the Raxaul area in Bihar.
The police have registered an FIR at the Patparganj Industrial Area police station, and both suspects have been taken into custody. This case has been filed under Section 33 of the Delhi Excise Act, 2009.
Authorities are now investigating the source of the illegal liquor and the intended distribution areas. According to officials, the investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to locate other individuals connected to this network.
