Mumbai, March 18: In a significant development in the shooting incident that occurred on Holi in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, police have successfully apprehended the main accused and his associate following an encounter.
On March 4, 2026, gunfire erupted in Kashiram Colony involving Sanju alias ‘Danger,’ Gaurav, and another unidentified individual. A case was registered at the Refinery police station, and since then, law enforcement has been actively searching for the suspects.
According to CO Anil Kaparwan, police received a tip-off on Tuesday night indicating that the suspects were in the area. Acting on this information, a police team set up a blockade. Upon realizing they were surrounded, the accused opened fire on the police. In self-defense, the police returned fire.
During the encounter, the primary suspect, Sanju ‘Danger,’ sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was promptly arrested. He was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment. Sanju has multiple criminal cases against him and is considered an active criminal in Agra and Mathura.
Additionally, his accomplice Gaurav was also captured at the scene. Police report that Gaurav has several pending cases as well. The arrest of both suspects is viewed as a significant success by the police.
From the scene, authorities recovered a motorcycle that the suspects used to flee. Furthermore, Gaurav was found in possession of a live cartridge, while Sanju ‘Danger’ had a .315 bore pistol, a live cartridge, and an empty shell casing.
Currently, police are interrogating both suspects to uncover any additional individuals involved in the incident and to investigate their criminal network.
