Major Action in Meerut: Inspector Akhilesh Gaud Suspended Over Allegations of Police Brutality Against Farmers

Meerut, August 23: Allegations of police brutality against farmer leaders in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, have raised serious concerns about law enforcement practices. In response to these claims, the police have taken significant action by suspending Inspector Akhilesh Gaud, the former in-charge of the Civil Lines police station and the SOG head.

Newly appointed SSP BBGT S Murthy initiated this suspension due to negligence, indifference, and arbitrary behavior in the performance of duties. Reports indicate that the decision followed an investigation by the DIG of Saharanpur and statements collected from officials late Saturday night. The police department is currently in turmoil following this action.

The case involves farmer leaders Digvijay Bhati and his associate Mohit Jatav, who alleged that they were physically assaulted and subjected to third-degree treatment while in police custody.

Digvijay Bhati claimed that police personnel humiliated him and used excessive force. He also shared videos related to the incident on social media. Bhati accused the police of assaulting him at both the SSP office and the SOG office.

He had previously leveled serious allegations against then-SSP Avinash Pandey and Inspector Akhilesh Gaud. As the controversy escalated, Gaud was initially placed on leave, but following the investigation, he has now been suspended.

The SSP’s action highlights allegations of negligence, indifference, and arbitrary conduct in the execution of duties against Gaud.

Meanwhile, farmer leader Digvijay Bhati is currently undergoing treatment. Following the police action, attention is now focused on the investigation report and the subsequent actions based on the emerging allegations.
