
Ranchi, March 22: The Maharashtra women’s team secured the BCCI Women’s Under-23 ODI Trophy Elite title for the 2025–26 season by defeating Karnataka by 75 runs in the final match on Sunday.
After losing the toss, Maharashtra opted to bat first, scoring 286 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Bhavika Ahire played a pivotal role, scoring a match-winning 109 runs off 100 balls. She received solid support from Eeshwari Sawkar, who contributed 61 runs, and Eeshwari Avasare, who added 36 runs, laying a strong foundation for the innings.
In response, the Karnataka team was bowled out for just 211 runs, thanks to the disciplined and accurate bowling from Maharashtra’s bowlers. Akshaya Jadhav was outstanding, taking 4 wickets for 39 runs in 9 overs. Esha Pathare claimed 3 wickets for 43 runs, while Khushi Mulla took 2 wickets for just 22 runs, sealing the victory for Maharashtra. For her remarkable performance, Bhavika Ahire was awarded both the ‘Player of the Match’ and ‘Player of the Tournament’ titles.
This victory marks a historic achievement for the Maharashtra women’s team, being their third title of the current season. It further solidifies Maharashtra’s dominance in the ongoing BCCI domestic season.
Throughout the 2025–26 season, Maharashtra has emerged as one of the top-performing state associations in the country, winning three BCCI tournaments and finishing as runners-up three times. This is the best overall performance achieved by any state cricket association in India this season.
Moreover, this is the first instance of any women’s team from a state association in India winning three titles in a single season. Maharashtra’s exceptional performance throughout the season reflects the growing strength, depth, and bright future of women’s cricket in the state.
