Madhya Pradeshs Chief Minister Highlights Agricultural Prosperity at Agriculture Conclave 2026

Jabalpur, April 8: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav addressed the ‘Agriculture Conclave 2026’ held at Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University (JNAU), Jabalpur, on Wednesday. The event was jointly organized by the Madhya Pradesh government’s Department of Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Development and the university.

During the conference, discussions focused on coordinating research, extension services, and market access under the state’s ‘Agricultural Welfare Year’ 2026 initiative. Yadav emphasized that 2026 is dedicated to promoting agriculture and related sectors through various programs and integrated activities.

Regarding the recently initiated wheat procurement, Yadav mentioned the support provided by the state government through the Bhavantar scheme and efforts to process crops like lentils and chickpeas, making farming more profitable.

He referred to the slogan ‘Jai Kisan, Jai Jawaan, Jai Vigyan’ and noted that Prime Minister Modi has added ‘Jai Anusandhan’ (Hail Research) to it. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of a coordinated approach involving various departments under the concept of ‘Unity in Diversity’ to promote farmer welfare.

He stated that under the ‘Farmer Welfare Year’ initiative, a variety of specific programs will be organized throughout the year. This approach aims to bring different departments together, providing a unified platform for their collective activities while maintaining the spirit of ‘Unity in Diversity.’

Yadav connected agriculture with a deep philosophy of harmony with nature, citing ancient Indian knowledge and historical evidence like the rock paintings of Bhimbetka. He praised a village-centered, nature-respecting lifestyle and recalled India’s journey from the food crisis of the 1960s, when the country relied on wheat imports, to self-sufficiency driven by scientific research and leaders like Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Paying tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Yadav highlighted the vision of the river linking project and how political obstacles in the 1970s delayed progress in the Narmada Valley. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the construction of the Sardar Sarovar Dam, which revolutionized water availability.

He remarked that the Narmada River is the lifeline of Madhya Pradesh, keeping it green, bringing joy and prosperity to Gujarat, and quenching the thirst of other states, including Rajasthan.

The Chief Minister proudly noted that Madhya Pradesh is a leader in pulse production in the country and also ranks high in oilseeds, food grains, and wheat.
