Bhopal, August 12: The monsoon season continues to impact Madhya Pradesh, with heavy rains causing rivers and streams to swell. Many residents in low-lying areas are facing severe difficulties due to flooding. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reported that rescue teams have successfully saved 527 individuals so far. The rainfall, which began on Sunday, persists in Bhopal and several other regions.
Yadav noted that the ongoing rains are disrupting daily life, particularly for those living in low-lying neighborhoods and villages along riverbanks. These areas have been inundated with water. Discussing the situation, he mentioned that this year’s rainfall is 15% below average. Efforts are ongoing to provide relief to those affected by the heavier rain in certain locations.
While detailing the state’s rescue operations, Chief Minister Yadav confirmed that the rescue teams have saved 527 lives, including seven pilgrims in Khandwa. The sudden rise in river levels due to the rains poses significant risks, prompting the rescue teams to work tirelessly around the clock.
The Chief Minister is personally overseeing the relief efforts. He stated that he has conducted a virtual meeting at the Home Guard office to assess the flood situation and has communicated with those who were rescued. Yadav urged residents living near rivers and streams to exercise caution. He also mentioned that assistance from neighboring districts will be sought if necessary. The government is monitoring the situation at the state level and is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
