Bhopal, August 12: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting the interests of farmers and agriculture. He announced that farmers whose agricultural land is acquired for government projects will receive compensation four times the market rate.
Speaking via video conferencing at the Balram Agricultural Festival held at the Karonde Agricultural Produce Market in Bhopal, CM Yadav emphasized the government’s dedication to safeguarding farming and farmers’ rights. He urged farmers to keep their land secure at all costs.
He stated, “Land is our mother. It nourishes us. Do not sell it.” CM Yadav reassured farmers that for any acquisition of agricultural land for government schemes, they would receive not one or two, but a full four times the compensation.
He conveyed to the farmers that their fields are sacred to the government, and every grain they produce is akin to a sacred offering. “Our government stands with you in honor of every drop of your sweat,” he said. The Balram Agricultural Festival serves as a platform to honor the hard work, dedication, and significant role of farmers in agriculture.
During the video conference, CM Yadav also interacted with farmers present at the festival. He announced the launch of the ‘Kavach’ scheme aimed at providing economic security to farmers. This initiative addresses past discrepancies in cooperative accounts and has already benefited 5,000 farmers with loans and various schemes. The scheme also offers interest-free loans and a full 12 months for repayment.
