Madhya Pradesh Registers 400,000 More Farmers for Wheat Procurement

Bhopal, March 18: The government of Madhya Pradesh is set to commence wheat procurement at the minimum support price starting April 1. This year, approximately 400,000 more farmers have registered compared to the previous year.

Agriculture Minister Adal Singh Kansana announced that the state government has completed preparations for the wheat procurement for the Rabi marketing year 2026-27. The procurement process will begin in phases, ensuring that farmers face no difficulties.

Kansana stated that wheat procurement will start on April 1 in the divisions of Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal, and Narmadapuram, while other divisions will begin on April 7. The procurement will take place on government working days from 8 AM to 8 PM, providing farmers with a convenient schedule. To further benefit farmers, the state government has decided to offer a bonus of ₹40 per quintal on wheat procurement. The purchase price will now be set at ₹2,625 per quintal.

He highlighted that a total of 1,904,651 farmers have registered for wheat procurement at the support price for the Rabi marketing year 2026-27, marking a significant increase from last year’s 1,544,000 farmers. This surge reflects the growing trust farmers have in the government’s policies.

Kansana emphasized that the government prioritizes farmers’ convenience. All procurement centers will be equipped with cold drinking water, fans, shade, and essential facilities to ensure farmers do not face any discomfort while waiting in the sun.

He has instructed officials to ensure that the procurement process is transparent, organized, and timely, so farmers do not encounter any issues. The state government remains committed to increasing farmers’ income and strengthening the agricultural sector.
