LPG Booking Reaches 99% Amid Global Crisis, Over 493,000 PNG Connections Activated: Government

New Delhi, April 20: The government announced on Monday that the current geopolitical situation is affecting LPG supply, but domestic consumers are being prioritized. Online LPG cylinder bookings have surged to 99% at the industrial level.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) stated that deliveries authenticated through Delivery Authentication Codes (DAC) have reached approximately 92%. This measure helps prevent the diversion of gas supplies. The DAC is sent to consumers’ registered mobile numbers.

The ministry also reported that several LPG distributors worked on Sunday to ensure timely delivery of gas cylinders to domestic consumers.

The total supply of commercial LPG has been increased to about 70% of pre-crisis levels, including an additional supply linked to a 10% improvement.

Since March 23, 2026, over 1.845 million 5 kg free trade LPG cylinders have been sold, reflecting the rising demand.

The government revealed that a three-member committee of executive directors from Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited is collaborating with states and industry organizations to plan LPG supply. An average of 7,000 metric tons of commercial LPG has been sold daily over the past five days.

Sales of auto LPG have shifted from private companies to public sector enterprises. In response to the increasing demand, PSU companies have ramped up their supply. States like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Rajasthan, and West Bengal have seen significant increases in demand.

Since March 2026, over 493,000 PNG connections have been activated, with more than 551,000 people registering for new connections. As of April 19, about 39,200 consumers have switched from LPG to PNG via myPNG.in.

According to the government, all refineries are operating at full capacity, and there is a sufficient stock of crude oil. Adequate availability of petrol and diesel has also been maintained, while domestic LPG production has been increased to meet demand.
