Lawyer Shot Dead in Bengaluru Home, Police Hunt for Suspects

A lawyer was shot dead in his home in Bengalurus Whitefield area, with police investigating possible motives linked to property disputes.

Bengaluru, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : A lawyer was fatally shot at close range in his home in the Whitefield area of Bengaluru on Sunday night. The incident occurred around 11:30 PM while the victim, identified as Manjunath, was counting money at his residence in Pattandur Agrahara.

Police suspect that the attack may have been carried out by two unidentified assailants, possibly linked to a dispute with tenants. They are exploring motives including property disputes or personal enmity, and are also investigating whether this was a contract killing.

Initial reports indicate that the attackers approached Manjunath under the pretense of discussing an issue. When he opened the door, one of them shot him in the forehead before fleeing the scene. Manjunath collapsed at the doorstep and succumbed to his injuries due to excessive blood loss.

Authorities believe the attackers may be from Bihar, arriving on a motorcycle. Police are working to identify them and trace their activities before and after the shooting.

The investigation suggests that a confrontation over rent between Manjunath and his tenants could have led to the murder. Officers are also examining the possibility that someone with an interest in Manjunath’s property orchestrated the attack.

Manjunath reportedly owned several acres of land in Whitefield and had constructed over 100 sheds, which he rented out. Detectives believe that disputes related to these rental properties may be central to the case.

To apprehend the suspects and investigate any potential accomplices, police have formed four special teams. They are gathering evidence and interviewing individuals who might provide insights into the dispute or the suspects’ activities.
