The India vs South Africa ODI series is set to begin on November 30, and all eyes will be on Virat Kohli as he aims to break Jacques Kallis’ record for most runs in bilateral ODI series between the two nations.

Currently, Kohli stands third on the list with 1,504 runs from 29 innings in IND vs SA ODI encounters. The star Indian batsman needs just 32 more runs to surpass South Africa’s legendary all-rounder Jacques Kallis, who occupies the second position with 1,535 runs.

Kallis remains one of only two players ahead of Kohli in this prestigious list. The former South African captain accumulated his runs across multiple series against India, establishing himself as one of the most successful batsmen in this fixture.

Former South African batsman Gary Kirsten holds the fourth position with 1,377 runs at an impressive average of 62.59. His consistent performances against India during his playing career have secured him a place among the top run-scorers in this bilateral contest.

AB de Villiers, famously known as Mr. 360, rounds off the top five with 1,357 runs from 32 innings. The explosive batsman maintained an average of 48.46 and a strike rate of 111.13, showcasing his aggressive yet effective approach against Indian bowling.

However, the summit belongs to cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who tops the list with 2,001 runs against South Africa in ODIs. The Master Blaster’s record appears safe for now, as Kohli trails by 497 runs – a gap too significant to bridge in the upcoming three-match series.

Kohli remains the only active player in the current top-five list, highlighting his continued excellence and longevity in international cricket. As the series approaches, cricket fans will be eager to see if the former Indian captain can add another milestone to his illustrious career by overtaking Kallis’ tally.
