New Delhi, March 9: In response to the uproar by Congress and other opposition members during External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s statement in the Lok Sabha, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju expressed strong criticism. He stated that the opposition is engaged in unnecessary disruptions, while the government is ready for discussions on every issue.
Rijiju remarked, “The opposition is completely confused. Their members do not know what they are supposed to do. Initially, they brought a no-confidence motion against the Lok Sabha Speaker, which is still pending, but now they are issuing notices for another no-confidence motion that makes no sense.”
He emphasized that the issues raised by the opposition had already been addressed in detail by the External Affairs Minister in the house. However, the opposition seems unwilling to listen. Rijiju stated, “I have never seen such an irresponsible party. Is one family or one individual the monarch of the entire country? This nation has a Constitution and rules in the house, but the opposition members do not adhere to these rules.”
Rijiju urged senior Congress leaders to reflect on how their actions benefit the country and how they have diminished the dignity of Parliament. He challenged the opposition, saying, “The government is fully prepared to discuss any unethical proposal you bring. If the opposition has the courage, let the discussion begin now.”
Despite his remarks, the opposition continued their protests. Congress and other opposition MPs entered the well of the house, chanting slogans and waving placards. This disruption led to repeated interruptions in the proceedings.
Earlier, during a statement by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar regarding issues in West Asia, opposition parties, including Congress, staged a walkout.
