Kejriwal Accused of Playing the Victim Card in Political Drama

New Delhi, March 28: Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva criticized Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday, accusing him of resorting to ‘victim card’ politics once again. This time, the focus is on a judicial matter related to the excise policy.

Sachdeva stated that the CBI and all investigative agencies in India have the autonomy to conduct investigations and file cases based on their findings in court. Similarly, all courts and judges in India are free to make impartial decisions based on their discretion.

He emphasized that Kejriwal and his AAP colleagues must understand that if an investigative agency has confidence in its evidence, it can challenge a lower court’s decision in a higher court, which has the authority to overturn lower court rulings.

Referring to recent developments in the trial court handling the excise policy case, Sachdeva pointed out that Kejriwal’s issue lies in his lack of respect for the judiciary, judges, or judicial processes, only recognizing decisions that favor him.

He remarked that it would have been better if Kejriwal had listened carefully to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement instead of hastily playing the victim. In his rush to portray himself as a victim, he has made himself a subject of ridicule.

Sachdeva noted that the Home Minister merely stated that the CBI’s case is strong, with solid evidence, and expressed confidence that the CBI would succeed in the high court. Had Kejriwal listened attentively before responding, he would not have become a laughingstock today.

In another development, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor targeted Kejriwal and other AAP leaders for their tendency to change their stance when faced with unfavorable judicial decisions.

He criticized AAP leaders like Rakhi Bidlan and Saurabh Bhardwaj for their double standards on various issues, including respect for the judiciary. Kapoor pointed out that AAP leaders demanding a change in the Delhi High Court bench for the excise policy appeal are disrespecting the judicial system.

He concluded by stating that it would be better for AAP leaders to accept that the lower court is not the final authority. Under the Indian judicial system, there is an appellate court for every court until the Supreme Court makes a decision on the matter.
