Karnataka Deputy CM Urges Congress Leaders to Protect Governments Image Amid Sting Operation Controversy

Karnatakas Deputy CM G. Parameshwara calls for unity among Congress leaders to safeguard the governments image amidst a sting operation controversy.

Bengaluru, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara has urged Congress leaders to exercise restraint amid a controversy surrounding a sting operation. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, he emphasized the importance of preserving the government’s image and keeping the public informed with accurate facts.

“We must consider how to protect the government’s reputation and ensure the public is aware of the truth,” Parameshwara stated. He advised against reacting to every statement made, suggesting that silence may be more beneficial. He stressed that public accusations among party members would not aid the government and called for careful handling of the issue.

Parameshwara noted, “If everyone responds to each other’s statements, where will it lead? Therefore, it is not appropriate to discuss this matter publicly in detail.” When questioned about the government’s legal stance and the silence of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the issue, he pointed out that the government cannot respond to every statement immediately.

“The legal process is ongoing, and the Home Minister is taking necessary steps within that framework. The Chief Minister has also addressed this matter. The government will discuss the issue and determine the appropriate course of action,” he explained.

He also questioned reports suggesting that Siddaramaiah was dissatisfied with how the state government was managing the situation. “Has he expressed dissatisfaction? Who said that? Has he made any statements indicating he is unhappy or that the government is mishandling the situation?” Parameshwara asked.

In response to comments from BJP leaders B.S. Yediyurappa and Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy regarding the political implications of the sting operation, including the possibility of a government change, Parameshwara stated that it is not necessary to address every claim.

When asked about speculations regarding leadership changes and plans from the Congress high command, he remarked that predicting the future is not feasible. “What kind of speculation are you making? Who is saying this? Did the high command say anything? I don’t know. If you claim to know something I don’t, how can I respond?” he questioned.

He concluded, “Let’s wait and see. I cannot predict who will be in power in 2028, nor can anyone else. The public will decide.”
