Jitendra Singh Announces Major Development Projects for Udhampur

Jammu, April 7: Jitendra Singh, the Member of Parliament from Udhampur and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, announced several significant development initiatives for Udhampur on Monday. These include the launch of ATR aircraft services within the next six months and the subsequent development of a fully operational airport.

Singh shared details about the decisions made during the Udhampur ‘Disha’ meeting on the social media platform X. He noted that the process for land transfer for a full-fledged civil airport has commenced. Additionally, tenders have been issued for the construction of an interim block at the existing site to facilitate the start of ATR flights within six months.

Moreover, the Army Command Hospital will now provide regular super-specialty services to civilians, significantly improving access to advanced medical facilities in the district. An ambitious project aimed at empowering the local economy through food entrepreneurship has been initiated for the traditional milk product ‘Kaladi.’ This initiative will be developed by the Food Technology and Research Institute based in Mysuru, Karnataka, which will create delicious recipes with an extended shelf life for distribution through major food channels in India and abroad.

The lavender cultivation that began in Bhaderwah has now reached the upper regions of Latti. Upgrades to the Dhar Road have commenced, and the express road corridor from Delhi to Katra is in its final stages. An ambulance has also been provided to the Government Medical College in Udhampur from the MP’s fund.

It is noteworthy that Jitendra Singh has been serving as the 18th Minister of Science and Technology and the 12th Minister of Earth Sciences since 2024. He also holds the position of Minister of State for the Prime Minister’s Office, Labour, Public Grievances and Pensions, Nuclear Energy, and Space.

He won the Udhampur seat in the 18th Lok Sabha with a majority of 124,373 votes, securing victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party in all three Lok Sabha elections he contested in 2014, 2019, and 2024.
