Ranchi, May 21: The special intensive revision of the voter list in Jharkhand will commence on June 20. Chief Electoral Officer Ravi Kumar announced this initiative on Thursday, emphasizing that the aim is to ensure that no eligible Indian citizen is left out of the voter list.
During a media interaction, Ravi Kumar stated that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door verification of voters. He explained that from June 20 to June 29, preparations, training, and necessary printing work will take place. Following this, from June 30 to July 29, BLOs will distribute enumeration forms and verify information at each household.
The draft voter list is set to be published on August 5. From August 5 to September 4, claims and objections can be submitted. The resolution of these claims and objections will continue until October 3, with the final voter list being published on October 7. The eligibility date for this revision campaign is set for October 1, 2026.
Ravi Kumar also mentioned that new voter applications, claims, and objections will be collected by BLOs during their visits. Special camps will be organized for those who cannot be reached by the BLOs.
He clarified that no voter’s name will be removed from the list without a hearing and urged people to disregard misleading information. The Chief Electoral Officer reiterated that this process is exclusively for Indian citizens and will not include foreign nationals.
He called upon voters, political parties, BLOs, and media representatives to actively cooperate in this campaign to make the state’s voter list cleaner, more inclusive, and error-free.
