Jammu-Kashmir: Samba Police Recover Arms Dropped by Drone

The Samba Police in Jammu and Kashmir have recovered weapons and ammunition allegedly dropped by a drone crossing the international border. The seizure took place in Palura village of Rajpura tehsil, according to an official statement from the Samba Police.

On January 9, reliable sources informed the police that a suspicious Pakistani drone had dropped a package in the open fields of Palura village and then returned across the border. The package, wrapped in yellow tape, was found at the site. A case has been registered at Ghagwal Police Station under relevant legal sections for further investigation.

In a joint search operation conducted by Samba Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) in Palura village, the recovered package contained one Chinese HE grenade, sixteen 9 mm rounds, a Glock pistol with a magazine, and a Star pistol with two magazines. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Recent Arrests in Jammu Related to Narco-Terrorism

Earlier, on Friday, Jammu Police arrested an accused involved in a narco-terror case and seized weapons and ammunition. The South Zone Police of Jammu, as part of Operation Sanjeevani, have intensified efforts against the narco-terror network, making significant progress through detailed investigations in a high-profile case.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered on November 14, 2025, at Gandhi Nagar Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. During a patrol, two individuals were detained, leading to the exposure of a well-organised terrorist group involved in drug trafficking.

The investigation led to the arrest of several suspects, including smugglers, financial handlers, and middlemen operating from jail. Authorities recovered approximately 4.95 kilograms of heroin, three pistols, live cartridges, and a vehicle, revealing the group’s cross-border connections.

The joint efforts of Jammu Police and security forces continue as part of a broader strategy to counter narcotics and terror-related activities in the region.
