New Delhi, March 9: In a significant operation against drug trafficking, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized a two-story residential property in Shopian. This action is part of an ongoing campaign to combat illegal drug trade in the region.
According to police reports, the seized property is registered under Khasra number 243 and is valued at approximately ₹5,521,189. It is reportedly owned by Ghulam Mohammad Khande, a resident of the Zarkan Keller area.
During the investigation, authorities discovered that the property was acquired using funds generated from the illegal sale of drugs and narcotics. Following this revelation, police acted in accordance with legal provisions to confiscate the property. This operation was conducted in relation to FIR number 49/2025, registered at the Keller police station.
The property seizure was carried out in the presence of a formally constituted police team. An executive magistrate, local lambardar, and chowkidar were also present to ensure compliance with all legal procedures and protocols.
The police stated that the campaign to eradicate illegal drug trade in the area will continue relentlessly. They have urged the public to report any information regarding drug trafficking or related activities to the authorities, enabling effective action against such crimes.
Earlier in January, the Poonch police had taken action against terrorism and anti-national elements active across the border. Following court orders, they seized the assets of a Pakistan-based terrorist leader.
This seizure was related to FIR registered under sections 2/3 of the E and IMCO Act at the Mandi police station. The confiscated property includes 10 kanals and 14 marlas of land under Khasra number 491, located in the Mandi tehsil of Poonch.
