Jaipur Railway Station: A significant change will take effect at Jaipur Railway Station from February 1, aimed at reducing confusion among passengers. The railway administration has decided to rename platform numbers 6 and 7 as 1A and 1B respectively.
The platforms in question are located on the ‘Sikar line’ and are situated very close to platform number 1. However, their earlier numbering as 6 and 7 often caused uncertainty among travellers, leading to anxiety about missing trains and unnecessary rush. This renaming has been introduced to address these issues.
Reason Behind the Change
According to Senior PRO Rakesh and Station Director Vipin Sharma, since these platforms are positioned adjacent to the main platform number 1, new passengers, elderly, and differently-abled individuals often assumed that platforms 6 and 7 were far away. The new designations 1A and 1B will clearly indicate that these platforms are extensions of platform 1.
The decision followed feedback collected under the guidance of DRM Ravi Jain, where most passengers recommended the renumbering for clarity.
Impact on Train Operations
Nearly 20 important trains, including the Jaipur-Asarwa Express and the Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat, operate from these platforms. This change is expected to benefit approximately 25,000 passengers daily by simplifying platform identification.

Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat (20979/80)
Aravali Express (Bandra-Sriganganagar)

Railway authorities have already updated the station’s digital boards to reflect the new platform numbers. Directional signboards are being replaced, and announcements over the loudspeakers will now mention platforms 1A and 1B to guide passengers effectively.
