Bihar ASI Opens Fire in Madhubani Home, One Dead and Three Injured

Madhubani, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : In a shocking incident late Monday night, a police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) opened fire inside a home in Balirajgarh village, Madhubani district, resulting in the death of one villager and injuries to three others. The situation in the area remains tense as authorities investigate the shooting.

According to police reports, the ASI, Chandramohan Singh, was stationed at a police picket in Balirajgarh. He frequently visited the home where the shooting occurred, which was occupied by two young women at the time. Allegations suggest that Singh entered the house with ill intentions. When a nearby woman noticed his presence, she locked the door from the outside and began shouting for help. This prompted villagers to gather and surround the house.

Feeling cornered, Singh drew his service pistol and began firing indiscriminately. Four villagers sustained gunshot wounds during the incident. They were quickly transported to the Babubarhi Community Health Center, where one was pronounced dead upon arrival. The other three victims were referred for advanced medical care due to their critical conditions.

Madhubani Superintendent of Police Yogendra Kumar has been on-site at the Babubarhi police station since the incident occurred, overseeing the investigation. A dedicated team of police officials is working to gather more information. Kumar confirmed that the ASI was on duty at the picket and efforts are underway to apprehend him.

Reports indicate that Singh had developed an illicit relationship with a woman from the village, which had drawn the attention of local residents. On the night of the shooting, villagers had encircled the house, leading Singh to fire several rounds in a bid to escape the mounting anger from the community.

The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, and further actions against the ASI will be determined based on the findings.
